Mixology North21 Project of the Year Finalist: Living Interiors
Two storeys of stand-out student amenity spaces, along with an 8th floor private dining room and external terrace, for client London and Scottish Student Housing – set within their new-build Symons House student development block in Leeds. The design of the amenity spaces represents a step change away from the bright-and-cheerful approach that has traditionally dominated the sector, where spaces are often saturated with primary colours.
The building, by Leeds-based architectural practice Cunniff Design, takes the form of a reverse L-shape building, with seven storeys on its lower horizontal plane and twenty-one on its vertical upright section. Both the building’s ground and lower-ground storeys, where the main amenity spaces are located, are indented and fully glazed – made for looking in and out.
