Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building, is a new state-of-the-art research building on the Gibbet Hill campus that will bring together up to 300 biomedical researchers from across the School of Life Sciences and Warwick Medical School to fight human diseases.
A timber frame and precast concrete make up most of the IBRB structure with an aluminium and glass curtain wall to half the facade with the other half in precast concrete panels.
Internally, effort was made to keep the structural frame exposed where appropriate, emphasising the character of its construction. Write up areas and collaborative spaces have been finished with carpet and acoustic panels to create spaces which respond to the needs of the occupants.
One of the key objectives of the University is to achieve net-zero carbon buildings by 2030, and IBRB’s strong focus on sustainability is paving the way – making it currently the most sustainable space on the University’s campus.
