The making of: Mix Interiors #227’s custom cover design
Take a behind-the-scenes look into the design process for our latest unique cover, created in collaboration with Trifle* and Amtico.
Commercial interior design studio Trifle* has provided the creativity behind the latest cover for Mix Interiors magazine, devising a tactile and art-inspired colour that utilised hand-crafted marble paper and offcuts from Amtico’s latest flooring collections.
Founded in 2010 by Emma Morley, Trifle* is now a passionate group of interior designers, architects, strategists and consultants who don’t shy away from the bold and colourful. Inspired by the striking geometric design of Lune from Amtico’s new LVT Signature range, the team has reimagined the pattern motif as a mixed media piece of art that imitates a flat-lay – thoughtfully combining Amtico flooring with fabric offcuts and studio surplus to give new life and narrative to otherwise discarded materials; as well as emphasising circularity.
“We loved the classic shapes of Lune’s design from Amtico and were inspired by the brand-new marble palette,“ comments Trifle*’s Nadia Themistocleous. “We stuck loyally to the geometric design from Amtico but ‘mixed’ things up by utilising offcuts from past projects, that were picked because they evoked that sense of marble veining or sought to recreate the marble effect themselves. We were even inspired to create our own ‘marble’ samples from leftover paints – the result a physical piece of mixed media art we will display proudly in our studio.”
