Modulyss reveals expert thought-leadership programme at Clerkenwell Design Week 2024
A series of specialist talks, workshops and interactive sessions contemplate the future of architecture and design.
With just under a week to go until Clerkenwell is buzzing once again with activities, workshops and events for Clerkenwell Design Week, flooring manufacturer modulyss has unveiled a packed roster of expert talks and interactive workshops. Focusing on the future of design, the sessions will examine topics like neuroaesthetics and inclusive design, AI and virtual reality – offering designers and architects practical advice and skills to take forward into their working practice.

Neuro-aesthetics: the impact of colour and acoustics on our wellbeing
Gensler London’s studio director Christopher Crawford will delve into the much-discussed field of neuroaesthetics, bringing his specialist experience in the subject to demystify the creative concepts that meet at the intersection of neuroscience and design. Exploring elements that impact our spatial experience – such as the use of colour and acoustics – Crawford will discuss how they can be harnessed to improve people’s wellbeing and their potential for driving positive change.

Silvia Reuda
The future of design technology: exploring the intersection of VR-technology and architecture
Immersive media specialist at Heatherwick Studio, Silvia Reuda plans to pull the future into the present with her talk on virtual reality technology and its use in the world of architecture.
Working at the experiential frontlines of thrilling developments in tech for many years, Reuda will chart the growth of virtual reality in the past few years, how it’s already bringing architectural concepts and hypothetical designs to life today – and what it could look like in the future.

Putting AI to work: crafting effective AI-prompts for architectural applications
Returning to modulyss’ talks programme for a third year, Tim Fu is back to present a highly practical use case on AI in architecture. Not only has he fully embraced the power of artificial intelligence in architectural design at Studio Tim Fu, he also frequently teaches modules on AI at universities and on digital platforms around the world.
Widely acknowledged for his knowledge and experimentation in artificial intelligence and design through his eponymous practice, Fu will be breaking down exactly how to craft the perfect AI prompt – with practical information for designers in an industry that’s racing to keep up with rapid developments inn AI and technology.

Interactive sessions and Belgian hospitality
Beyond three expert talks, modulyss is hosting hands-on workshops and immersive activities at the brand’s London showroom. The Mix editorial team’s highlights include a colour moodboarding workshop with designer Rachel Henderson, exploring the mood boarding process and how it can facilitate the overall design process. The workshop will take place on May 21st between 11am and 1pm.
Later on May 21st at 6-8pm, guests are invited to join an evening reception with Belgian hospitality as a nod to the brand’s origins – Belgian beer and fries, of course – with an opportunity for connection and a touch of actual magic performed by magician Ned.
On 22 May at 12-1pm, guests can discover what space travel is like through an Immersive Space Experience driven by VR in partnership with Space Store.
Learn how to design a unique carpet tile from Ruben De Reu, Product Director at modulyss Belysse, and designer of many innovative and bold flooring concepts for modulyss. Taking place on May 23rd at 11am-12pm, his showcase will offer guests a glimpse behind the curtain of the cutting-edge printing technology used to create custom soft flooring designs.
