SMBC Group’s EMEA headquarters consolidates three legacy sites in London, bringing two significant UK entities under one roof. A catalyst for large-scale cultural change, the project was driven by SMBC’s desire to adopt a more progressive and inclusive approach.
Designed to encourage communication, collaboration and a sense of community, the space provides a variety of activity based working environments and a greatly enhanced client experience.
The idea of ‘connectivity’ led the design concept, inspired by the traditional bridges of Japan, that reflect SMBC’s long history of connecting Europe to Asia. The space challenges pre-conceived notions of a bank’s workspace, contemplating the future of work and creating a progressive and contemporary space that promotes knowledge sharing while celebrating the brand’s heritage, values and culture.
The result is an inclusive workplace that reflects SMBC’s sense of purpose to its clients, motivates employees and acts as a catalyst for growth and evolution.
