1 Citygate Newcastle, a former council building in Newcastle, has been transformed into a “best-in-class” workspace. Citygate sets a new standard for refurbished offices in the North-East, proving that you don’t need to build from the ground up to offer high-quality office space.
Next to the former City defense wall and Black Medieval friary, the adaptive reuse strategy was based on cultural significance, enhancing the sense of arrival from the landscaping up to the entrance, materiality throughout to establish a contemporary continuity with site memory.
tp bennett redesigned the arrival experience and amenities at ground-floor, creating new signage, a garden and seating areas next to a portal framed entrance leading to flexible reception and business lounge spaces.
