Capital Group’s London headquarters is located across 9 floors at 1 Paddington Square, designed by Renzo Piano. The new workplace is driven by the client’s desire to create a progressive workspace, emphasising connectivity and wellbeing for their upcoming 1000 strong associates. At its heart, two interconnected striking staircases unite the workplace, creating vertical movement and acting as a catalyst for collaboration and community building. Unique amenity spaces branching out on each floor encourage cross pollination and foster a culture of growth and engagement.
Drawing inspiration from the local Paddington Basin, the design concept considers fluid forms and the reflections found in the local waterways to blend form and function and create a purposeful workplace that harnesses Capital Group’s values and aspirations. Further use of natural materials including FSC lightly washed European oak and warm metals combined with a light tonal palette, extensive biophilia and a complimentary lighting strategy create inviting spaces that are tactile and easily accessible. Targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and LEED Gold Green Building accreditations, the project used ADLib, tp bennett’s in-house responsible sourcing platform, to specify all materials, ensuring transparency in the supply chain and consideration of factors beyond carbon emissions, such as human rights and biodiversity.
