Located in West London, Addison Studios is a vibrant transformation of a converted Victorian mission church into a design studio and workspace. Through considered restoration, the revived original fabric and features emphasise and complement this bright, and creative new workspace with a studio feel. New finishes introduced in select areas complement the exposed existing palette. A glulam structure and bandsawn timber floor bring a contemporary warmth, while cool greens were strategically employed to accentuate the structure. A flexible, lively and expandable studio space was a key requirement of the brief.

A largely uninterrupted ground floor is strategically subdivided by two permanent features – a cork presentation board and a large kitchen island. This defines diverse workspaces on the ground floor of varying privacy, size and function. Open floor plates encourage flexibility, while selective fixed elements subtly divide the studio into zones of varying size, privacy and functionality. This adaptability also leaves room for expansion, giving the studio longevity. Large windows and dormers flood the space with light while a flexible lighting design adapts to various activities below. The renovation results in a charming, communal design space, welcoming creativity and innovation in a space that’s both historic and contemporary.
