Thirdway – Chief, London

Mix Awards 24: Project of the Year – Workplace 5-15k

Project Team

  • ECJ Joinery, Bridgegate, Celsius, Chief, Tribe

Text provided by Thirdway

Georgian tradition meets contemporary design in this Grade I listed Bloomsbury townhouse turned exclusive members Clubhouse. Working collaboratively with the client’s all-female design team, Thirdway were tasked with creating Chief’s first clubhouse outside of the US. They wanted the design to have consistency in brand and feel, but with its own ‘UK stamp’. With five floors of event spaces, meeting rooms, workspaces, bars, and mothers’ rooms, Chief offers a cosy home away from home for female members to connect, meet, and relax. The design marries tradition with innovation, delivering a unique and memorable experience while staying true to Chief’s brand identity.

Social sustainability is promoted through inclusivity and accessibility features. The design incorporates features such as readable signage in both visual and Braille formats, ensuring inclusivity for visually impaired individuals. The provision of dedicated Mother’s rooms caters to the needs of people with young children, promoting a supportive environment for working mothers. Furthermore, the emphasis on showcasing art and literature exclusively by female artists and authors promotes gender diversity and empowerment within the space.
