Tétris Design & Build – Daiichi Sankyo

Mixology22 Project of the Year Finalist: Workplace 5,000-15,000 sq ft

When global pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyo needed a larger space to attract and retain talent, they appointed Tétris to deliver a modern, flexible environment to allow for growth, enrich employee life in the office and to set a standard for future offices in the UK and overseas. The design references the company’s Japanese heritage, with the pagoda framework a central focus of the open office space, vertical wood strip screens as space dividers, crackle-glazed ceramic tiles, and the layout of the walls reflecting the curves of their logo.

Reflecting Daiichi Sankyo’s ethics of treading lightly and promoting the benefits of the natural environment, the new office is next to a nature reserve so our design consciously brings the surroundings inside. The people-centric design provides a range of task-oriented work settings and generous breakout and social facilities with a visually uplifting mix of natural textures and art pieces. 3 of 7 Through the use of nature to drive the look and feel and material selection, and by working with organic forms to divide the rectangular space, the office embraces biophilic design and fuses it with the work culture. Tétris provided a generous refreshment area with an emphasis on natural materials, organic shapes, interesting lighting and hanging plants. A variety of multi-functional seating settings between the refreshment and social sports area allow staff to share their eating experience and work in the same settings before and after their social engagements.
