Studio Rey worked with Lifework Communities on the design of their first co-working space located in the countryside surrounding Bath.

Lifework’s aim is to create rural and city workspaces that provide a balance between work and home and benefit the community, local economy and the environment. The space is also intended to be used by locals for events and workshops to share skills, make connections and build a stronger community.

Studio Rey designed a space with clearly defined working zones whilst allowing flexibility for hosting events. The lighting design aims to make a large open space feel intimate and welcoming.

The aim was to create a relaxed yet professional atmosphere with a home from home feel. The utilitarian barn building was made to feel warm with a textural timber clad ceiling and osb wall cladding. These timber finishes were contrasted with a carefully selected bold colour palette, furniture and textiles.
