Stopford House is a key asset in Stockport Council’s workplace estate. Constructed in 1975, it is a Brutalist style building built to accommodate a range of council services.

After taking a strong sustainable stance, building a case to reuse and refurbish Stopford House rather than building new, SpaceInvader delivered a full workplace strategy with the council enabling them to adopt a hybrid way of working. This informed the design and fit out of the space whilst embracing sustainable principles. The building has been stripped back to reveal key architectural features and improvements have been made operationally to make the building more sustainable.

The project has revolutionized the way in which Stockport Council works, as a direct response to their objectives which we had full understanding of from the workplace strategy process. The resulting space is inspiring, supportive of work as well as wellbeing in a flexible, logical and well-designed scheme.
