Solidwool was born from the idea to create something beautiful – making sustainable furniture with an unbreakable link to nature. A unique composite material, made in the UK using British Wool and bio-resin. Think fibreglass, but with wool.
Original founders, Justin and Hannah Floyd, wanted to create something beautiful that had purpose. The result was Solidwool – a material with endless opportunity. Since 2020, new custodians Roger Oates Design have supported the development of Solidwool through re-engineering the material and further developing production.
This year, Solidwool launched the Welsh Mountain Hembury Chair. Updated and refined, this new chair with Welsh Mountain wool makes for a truly unique piece of furniture. It has taken many months of experiments to develop a new Solidwool formula using the Welsh Mountain fleece. We are proud to create another unique composite material with a story that connects people to the land it has come from.
