Scott Brownrigg’s fit-out provides one of the world’s largest and oldest financial hubs with a new state-of-the-art workspace in Gydnia, Poland to house 730 staff. Following two years of working from home during the pandemic, the key ambitions were to “Re-build, Re-gain, Re-invigorate” the office and encourage employees back to the workplace. The design provides a wide variety of work settings to support different work styles; empowering creative collaboration and innovation, and facilitating focus and rejuvenation.
With each space designed to enhance a sense of community, the new workspace includes a multi-functional communal space set around island coffee points to encourage informal collaboration, and is large enough for staff social events, presentations to over 100 people, and exhibitions of local photography. Designing for disassembly was also a key factor in considering the fitout’s lifecycle and the cost of replacing or upgrading. For example, the timber floor has been laid using magnets to allow individual boards to be replaced as necessary and eventually enables the entire floor to be lifted and reused elsewhere, without damaging the wood. With a need for future flexibility and to ensure the relevance of the design for years to come, flexible furniture solutions, such as movable pods, have been specified that can be reconfigured and reused elsewhere in the organisation’s estate.”
