Resonate were appointed by King Edward VI school to refurbish and update the sixth form area of this private school. Following a vote on design options from students, Resonate was a firm favourite with 95% selecting their design, largely due to its approach to sustainability being a leading factor.

The premise around the design was to create a study and communal space that students enjoyed and would thrive in. The concept was influenced by the ‘Tree of Learning’ with the existing structural column clad in a natural oak finish which overlooks a double-height space. A barista bar crafted from books (sourced from the school library) was also created to maximise social interactions; the tiling in this part of the building derives from recycled sanitaryware. Furniture throughout is a mix of new and refurbished and acoustic panels have been produced from recycled plastic bottles. Huge living walls also support biophilic design and create oxygen within the space.
