150 Holborn goes beyond being a physical workspace; it is an ecosystem that champions and empowers individuals and is a canvas for innovation. With workspace quality being increasingly crucial, Perkins&Will’s design for 150 Holborn brings creative minds together, with cross-disciplinary collaboration at its core, to address some of society’s most pressing challenges. Perkins&Will’s level 3 studio is an empowering place with inclusion at its heart, feauting a central atrium that connects all floors with a sculptural staircase and fosters interaction. Just as the building transforms London’s urban landscape, the new studio is an inspiring destination that nourishes curiosity, imagination, and community.
The rooftop pavilion and garden, with panoramic London views and staff canteen, demonstrates a commitment to creating spaces that transcend traditional office boundaries. The public ground-floor café, exhibition space and retail units enliven the streetscape and truly connect to the neighbourhood. 150 Holborn uses intelligent building technology to self-optimise, providing real-life data to inform future projects both for Perkins&Will and the wider industry. A digital ‘twin’ of the building creates a “living lab” of data about energy usage and how people are using each space. This allows us to continuously optimise usage to ensure staff wellbeing and building performance remains high, and is the first-time intelligent building technology has been collected in such a way and for these purposes in the UK.
