M Moser Amsterdam

The Amsterdam living lab is M Moser’s most ambitiously decarbonised project to date, targeting IFLI Net Zero Carbon certification. Situated in a beautiful and authentic canal building, its namesake, Bartolomeo Cristofori, is credited with inventing the piano in 1709. Repurposed in 1901, the building served as a concert hall in a past life. To this day, its musical and creative heritage is evident throughout the space. The firm are continuing to measure the space’s performance and identifying opportunities for improvement with an invisible layer of technology. Through smart technology and cloud-based machine learning, they are reducing energy consumption and generating insights to inform adaptations.
This approach continually aligns the space with M Moser Amsterdam’s changing needs, offering a responsive solution to modern building management. Simultaneously, the studio advances M Moser’s climate action with sustainability, circularity and technological innovation. The living lab therefore serves as a testing ground to enhance the workplace experience. To achieve this, M Moser’s brand experience team added bespoke art, objects, signage and installations. The team also built an interactive site, allowing guests to scan QR codes and learn more about the living lab as they move around. A deconstructed piano spans the wall of the studio. Made with parts donated by a local piano workshop, it reinforces themes of musicality and sustainability.
