In creating their new post-pandemic home in Manchester, Cundall commissioned Jackson Downes to design an agile and cost-effective space that would bring staff together to collaborate and socialise, whilst also enhancing the industrial heritage of the Grade II listed former packing warehouse, Fourways House.
At the heart of the office, a large multi-functional space serves as a welcoming and informal arrival area for socialisation, whilst meeting and focus rooms exist in a secluded corner of the floor plate accessed from the central hub which increases privacy for more sensitive meetings. A sympathetic colour palette complements the listed features within the building, such as the exposed red-brick and blackened steel columns, whilst the original timber floor has been left largely exposed but softened with textural rugs to reduce noise in higher footfall zones.
