Ingo Interiors –’The Place’ for Yorkshire Housing, Leeds

Winner

Mixology North22 Project of the Year Finalist: Positive Impact

Project Team

  • Citu, CPWP

The Place is the first zero carbon workspace in Yorkshire, built by Leeds-based company Citu and designed by Liverpool studio, Ingo Interiors.

Ingo turned the 10,000 sq ft space belonging to the Yorkshire Housing Association, into a hub for sustainability, innovation and technology. With the implementation of triple glazed windows, thick insulation and airtightness, the building retains most of its heat – saving Yorkshire Housing approximately £200,000 per annum. This also means The Place does not require central heating or gas.

The timber frame used to build The Place was manufactured just next door at Citu, again decreasing its environmental impact. Being so central to Leeds, users of The Place can also easily access the building via public transport too, reducing the need for cars.
