Impact Acoustic and atelier oï have developed Oloïd, a sustainable luminaire that combines acoustic excellence with innovative design. This collaboration showcases the fusion of acoustic engineering, materials research and design creativity, using ARCHISONIC® Felt, made from upcycled plastic bottles, to provide superior sound absorption and sustainability. The design process, inspired by the capabilities of the material, transformed stiff, flat panels into organic shapes through a novel cutting technique and skilful folding to achieve a unique three-dimensional form.
Oloïd’s design is customisable with 32 ARCHISONIC® Felt colours, enhancing architectural spaces with both aesthetic appeal and functional benefits. This partnership between Impact Acoustic and atelier oï marks a significant advancement in sound-absorbing luminaire design, emphasising sustainability, innovation and the transformative power of design and materials. Oloïd, with its chandelier design, introduces a unique ambience characterised by efficiency, intelligence and a visually striking presence. The choice of ARCHISONIC® Felt underlines a commitment to sustainability and reflects Impact Acoustic’s ethos with a design that prioritises mono-materiality, ease of assembly and adaptability.
