Wellbeing, material re-use, nature, movement and designing for longevity are the key drivers behind the transformation of 6 Gracechurch St. An existing office building in the City of London has been re-invented to create an appealing sustainable workspace for the post-COVID generation. Prioritising cycling, agile working, and connection to outdoors means creating spaces with durable natural materials that offer flexibility for different ways of working and meeting. What was once an empty reception area is now a busy street-facing social space, and a plant area is now a roof terrace with covered meeting spaces. Cyclists have showers and changing areas designed to be more like a spa than an office building. Passers-by are invited to look inside and see the activity within, whilst the building’s occupants have views onto historic St Peters Courtyard.
