Holland Harvey – Corner at Tate Modern, London

Mix Awards 24: Project of the Year – Bar & Leisure Interiors

Project Team

  • Goldfinger, Spared, There’s Light, Tate Eats, West One UK, Mike Boorman

Text provided by Holland Harvey

Conceived as an extension of the public realm, Corner at Tate Modern links London’s iconic Southbank and Turbine Hall into a vibrant space for food, drink, and community, emphasising accessibility and inclusivity. The design transitions from a daytime to night, embodying adaptability. Circular economy, decarbonisation and social impact were all at the core of the project, encouraging the preservation of original materials such as timber flooring, alongside the exposure of the building’s structural elements, to celebrate its post-industrial essence.

The project employs tactile, durable materials to achieve a timeless, modern aesthetic that complements the building’s harder surfaces. Exemplifying a commitment to sustainability, Holland Harvey strove to make Corner a model for environmentally conscious design in public spaces. This included collaborations with Goldfinger for furniture made from locally felled trees, while There’s Light were tapped for the recyclable lighting fixtures and creative service Spared commissioned to create items from coffee waste.
