Hawkins\Brown – HERE + NOW, Reading

With its emphasis on connecting with the natural environment and occupant wellbeing, Here + Now presents the core values of the post-pandemic workplace. Previously two tired and generic office buildings in Reading (formerly owned by Microsoft), the buildings have been reimagined into an exemplar workplace environment.

With hybrid working becoming more popular after the pandemic, we sought to change the way office spaces are used and perceived. Here + Now is designed to be a stage for business and a space for creative and social interaction. Great emphasis was given to service and amenities, and spaces can contract or expand, providing flexibility. Key features include the suspended “treehouse” meeting pods, bleacher presentation area, quiet room, a gym and dedicated Peloton room, and even fleet facilities where tenants can rent paddleboards, skateboards, e-scooters and more.
