DAY Architectural – Bowman’s Restaurant, Wirral University Teaching Hospital

Mixology North22 Project of the Year Finalist: Positive Impact

Project Team

  • Warden Construction Ltd, Banyards

Wirral University Teaching Hospital has worked with DAY Architectural and DAY Interior Design on numerous occasions – this time, the partnership was to deliver Bowman’s Restaurant in Arrowe Park Hospital and a staff changing room facility including a drinks and lounge area.

Tasked with creating staff-focused sanctuaries where NHS workers could come and rest during break times, DAY Interiors refurbed the existing canteen space in Arrowe Park Hospital, turning it into a fresh and welcoming environment with a contemporary feel. In the staff changing rooms, gender-specific references were replaced with a unified and calming colour palette.

Sustainability was a serious part of the project and the Trust’s vision to be net carbon zero. Materials including the Marmoleum floor (by Forbo) in the canteen is CO2 neutral, and all cladding came from a locally sourced timberyard.
