Cast Interiors – 210 High Holborn, London

Mixology23 Project of the Year: Positive Impact

Project Team

  • Legal & General Investment Management, Amtico – Access range, Interface – Composure, Polyflor – Non slip vinyl in wet areas, House of Hackney, Vinyl wrapping to lift surrounds by Peach, Craig & Rose Chalk Effect, Farrow & Ball, Dulux Trade, Eco Friendly Tiles (60% recycled), Diespeker Terrazo, Corian, Fenix Nanotech super matte, Ash veneered MDF, Modus, Howe (remanufactured), Studio Mama (remanufactured), Boss (remanufactured), Fogia (remanufactured), Naughtone (remanufactured)

The refurbishment of 210 High Holborn wasn’t a typical office refresh, but a transformation of an end-of-life retail unit into a spectacular multi-level workspace – delivering an end-user experience which covers all bases. 210 has had many guises in the past and Cast felt it was important to pay homage whilst preparing its tenants for the future. Opening in 1910, it was known as ‘The Embassy Theatre’, seating around 500 people and was London’s first ‘short film theatre’. The theatre hosted a renowned tearoom at street level, and this is referenced by our tea point in the reception area. Later in the 20th century the building was used by a steel casement company – for which our bespoke ‘lobster alive’ balustrading ‘vein’ running through the open stair and black steel facade gives a subtle nod. A unique offer for the area, 210 is a perfect example of change of use.
