With localisation pivotal to Mercure’s brand, Buckley Gray Yeoman was inspired by Antwerp’s Academy of Fine Art having produced some of the world’s finest painters and fashion designers – giving licence to be bold in the use of pattern, colour and art. The studio opened the small arrival to provide a generous lobby, which features Antwerp Blue panelling, burgundy tiling and a stitched reception desk. In the F&B areas, classic European bistro references were deployed, such as glazed tiles, globe pendants and bentwood chairs. Atmospheric corridors contrast with light, fresh guestrooms with bespoke wallcoverings.
