BDP delivered a £43m transformation of the University of Coventry’s 1960s School of Art and Society, together with a new-build courtyard infill to connect adjacent buildings and provide a new heart for the faculty. This transformation involved repurposing existing spaces into active, collaborative pedagogies, an overhaul and expansion of specialist workshops and studio spaces and immersive, high-tech media spaces. Alongside a new front door and ‘shop window’, meticulous assessment of the existing buildings allowed BDP to deliver a complete spatial reorganisation and revitalise the academic environment, while also ensuring maximum functionality and economic viability.
