BDP

Mixology23 Design Practice of the Year – Over 50 Employees

Founded 62 years ago, this year marks half a century of BDP Design. Formed in 1973 by four designers, the design group has grown to be a respected and creative practice in the fields of workplace, retail, education, residential and healthcare design.

With its core team in the London Studio, in the past 12 months the design team has grown to almost 100 strong with new studios in Toronto, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff and Glasgow. Elsewhere, the firm is opening new studios in New York, Lima and Edinburgh.

2022 has seen progress in key areas for BDP including hybrid working, transparent career paths, industry engagement and equality, diversity and inclusion. Recently BDP also introduced menopause and menstruation policies with paid leave, and reviewed their maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave policies, and created a parent and carers support group.

All designers at the practice are encouraged and supported to remain active in the wider design community, to grow their confidence and understanding of design. Many have participated in round tables and keynote speaking and two of their next-gen designers designed and coordinated the pavilions at the Workplace Design Show in February 2023.
