BDG architecture + design – WPP Manchester

Mix Awards 24: Project of the Year – Workplace 30-70k

Project Team

  • WPP, ISG Retail, Globe & Simpson, The Furniture Practice, Hoare Lea

“Text provided by BDG

BDG was selected by WPP, the global creative transformation powerhouse, to lead the design for their latest global campus project in Manchester. This project is at the heart of WPP’s international real estate expansion, which prioritises adaptability for the future, nurturing a vibrant community, and the overall desire to bring employees back into the office. Located in Spinningfields, a vibrant dining, shopping and lifestyle destination in the heart of the city, the interior takes strong inspiration from local and historic influences as well as the symbol of the city, the worker bee.

The new campus prioritises social and environmental sustainability, earning BREEAM Excellent certification. Also aiming for Net Zero 2030 goals, and encouraging green transportation with electric car charging stations and cycle racks, emphasises that sustainability is woven into every aspect of the campus. BDG’s design also introduces a striking digital screen wrapping around the building’s core, creating an impactful street presence and a dynamic arrival experience. The campus additionally uses eco-friendly timber in seating and relies on electricity for heating and cooling instead of fossil fuels in order to lower its carbon footprint.”
