Autex Acoustics have developed a new process that for the first time, allows textiles made from polyester (fibre form of PET plastic), to be recycled into new products, other than textiles by protecting the structure of the raw material. The new technology is a significant advance on current industry recycling methods which result in a degraded plastic material that has fewer potential applications in new products. Millions of tonnes of common polyester products including almost half the world’s clothing and products such as disposable face masks are dumped in landfills around the world every year.
