Created by German industrial designer Martin Ballendat as a ‘hybrid’ task chair, Emma by Verco is here to prove that a jack-of-all-trades can be a master of all. The Emma chair sits ready to provide a radical new way to work, comprised of a slim, single-piece, moulded frame and a simple yet sophisticated swivel and tilt mechanism, as well as armrests, a cantilevered back rest and a sprung seat for elevated comfort. The Emma range therefore offers aesthetics, function, comfort and more in a single, light-scale, ‘hybrid’ task chair that crosses into new design territory.

Emma was designed to assist in the creation of different ‘neighbourhoods’ within the office community, helping workplaces build a vibrant ‘village’ of different, interesting and thoughtful spaces for occasional work and leisure activities. As permanent workstations are being replaced by a ‘softer’, more domestic feel throughout workplace design, Emma can help blur these lines between the workplace and home.

Manufactured in High Wycombe, Emma can support a variety of work situations, from focussed work to more relaxed collaboration and communication. Its innovative design allows the user’s pelvis to rotate forwards naturally, encouraging the spine to adopt a naturally balanced position. Meanwhile, the upper body is carefully supported, achieving the best of natural balance and relaxation.

Available in nine different frame colours, the Emma collection offers more opportunities to differentiate between departments or areas within workplaces, or to complement a client’s corporate colours. As end users have come to expect from leading manufacturers like Verco, Emma is crafted with a high proportion of sustainable materials, enabling a very high level of recyclability at the end of its life cycle and giving the range an overall ‘gentle’ environmental footprint.
