United Kingdom“We become the position we are most often in,” says Caroline Ephgrave, former dancer of the Royal Ballet and designer behind the Ephgrave Chair by Frem Group, a seating solution with a single moveable back cushion that balances the spine, improves posture and eliminates pain. Now a physiotherapist, Ephgrave has treated hundreds of patients with back and neck issues caused by poor seating posture. Subsequently, Ephgrave’s mission has been solve this problem by creating the Ephgrave Chair – a seating solution that does all the work.
Made of moulded foam, the Ephgrave Chair’s moveable back cushion is designed to support the spine’s ‘keystone’ – where the head meets the neck and body – by pushing each user’s spine forwards and repositioning the upper body to achieve good posture, subsequently reducing joint and muscle strain.
The minimal design of the Ephgrave Chair’s back allows freedom of movement and is bolstered by lower back support. Its adjustable height, as well as its shape, adds extra comfort by being shorter in depth so users can move closer towards their desks. The removal of chair arms enables precision so users can also position their bodies correctly in front of desks.
Frem Group collaborated with textile merchants including Camira, Inloom, Agua Fabrics, Cheiftain and Abbotsford to offer a chair that suits any interior, with each fabric available in a wide range of colours. The Ephgrave Chair is made of 80% recyclable materials, and can be 100% recycled, offering sustainability credentials that support the greenest of commercial projects.
The Ephgrave Chair is currently on show in Frem Group’s London Showroom and specifiers can request a sample chair for trial by contacting info@frem.co.uk. Download the Ephgrave Digital Brochure here.
