Prin London create RUSTLES range by mixing metal particles
French-born Ariane Prin’s work comes out of experimentation and her desire to create new form and utility out of commonly disregarded waste materials.
The RUST and RUSTILES ranges are created by mixing metal particles, originating from key cutting and other metalworking workshops across London, with gypsum and acrylic. No two items or tiles can be the same; each being made by hand and the metal dust oxidation giving a unique texture, colour and intensity.
Handcrafted in Britain, RUSTILES are made of metal particles and Jesmonite, a composite consisting of a water based acrylic and gypsum. Launched as part of the “Material of the Year” installation at the London Design Fair in September 2017, the surfaces came from a desire to see the RUST homeware collection at a larger scale – perfect for interior design and architecture applications.
