Interface’s Upon Common Ground collection takes inspiration from Australian landscapes and the deep connections that First Nations people have to their local environments. With a growing consciousness of the need to connect with nature, Interface turned to the land’s traditional custodians for guidance.
The product of a seven-year project in Australia, in partnership with the European design teams, this collection represents a natural evolution of biophilic design and reflects Interface’s commitment to creating beautiful, innovative products that have a positive impact on the environment.
The colour range in Upon Common Ground takes inspiration from the five key habitats of Australia: Desert, Saltwater, Rainforest, Freshwater and Spinifex. Each palette includes warm neutrals and subtle accent colours that exude the beauty and uniqueness of each landscape.
The collection is made with 100% recycled solution dyed nylon and is carbon neutral through Interface’s Carbon Neutral Floors programme.

Sandbank, Shallows and Undulating Water draw inspiration from the waterways, textured sands and layering effects of ripples in shallow and deep water. Together they create a seamless and subtle transition through base organic patterns, heightened texture and colour movement.
Dry Bark encapsulates the naturally furrowed character of wise and weathered tree bark and is available in both neutral and accent palettes.
Escarpment is the foundational style in this collection as it captures the beautiful earthy details of centuries-old stone cliffs. This work horse style is ideal for any large floorplate application.
