HIMACS brings a luxurious and functional finish to Hotel Brooklyn Leicester

HIMACS is a solid surface material that can be moulded into any shape. It is widely used for architectural and interior applications, such as sculptural and high-performance wall-cladding or kitchen, bathroom and furniture surfaces, in commercial, residential and public space projects. It is composed of minerals, acrylic and natural pigments that come together to provide a smooth, non-porous and visually seamless surface which meets the highest standards for quality, aesthetics, fabrication, functionality and hygiene – offering manifold advantages over conventional materials. With a 15-year guarantee (when installed by a member of the Quality Club) HIMACS is a robust and long-lasting material.

Inspired by the New York borough of the same name, Hotel Brooklyn first found award-winning success in 2020 in its Manchester location. Two years on, and design studio Squid.inc has once again created a lavish and laid-back design at the hotel’s new Leicester location – complete with HIMACS Dark Night for the bar and reception counters, and the iconic colour Alpine White for the vanity tops in the 191 bedrooms’ en-suites.

The combined bar, restaurant and socialising area is called the Lair – open to guests and the wider Leicester community. At the centre of this open-plan environment, the bar’s front facade is crafted from HIMACS Dark Night and features routed diagonal lines representing the patterns formed by the steel suspension cables of the Brooklyn Bridge. Part of the Solids Collection from HIMACS, the same surface material was also chosen for the hotel’s reception area countertops.

Due to its flexibility and special characteristics, HIMACS is well suited to hospitality environments. It’s also practical and safe, as it is robust and fire resistant, hygienic and resistant to wear and tear, stains and UV rays. Its non-porous surface makes the material completely waterproof and extremely quick and easy to clean.
