United KingdomManufactured at Frem Group’s Hertfordshire factory in the UK, the INSPIRE Collection is a family of three sofa ranges – Alina, Freddie and Jakob – and a nest of sustainable coffee tables derived from textile and food waste, created in collaboration with .PLANQ.
“Inspire originated from our desire to create more design led soft seating,” says the manufacturer’s head of design, Stephen Clark. Available in three-seater, two-seater and single armchair options, all three sofas are influenced by residential interiors with the intention of creating more comfortable commercial environments, “We wanted to launch three new sofa shapes that offered something unique in their design.”
Freddie
Jakob
Alina
Curvy, plump and contemporary, Alina is a sofa best suited to neutral interiors, with a focus on organic shapes and natural materials. Meanwhile, Freddie embraces a more minimalistic Scandi-inspired profile with a box-arm aesthetic and tapered wooden legs. Intended for luxury interiors, Jakob offers a formal seating option that pairs nicely with ‘brass accents and warm walnut wood tones’.
Made from FSC-certified wooden frames and CME foam, all three designs benefit from being at least 95% recyclable and can be upholstered in a specified fabric of choice. “[However], each sofa range has its own hero fabrics: Freddie in the modern tweed, Jakob in a plush velvet and Alina in the Boucle,” adds Clark.
.PLANQ x Frem in White Denim
To complete the collection Frem Group introduced Frem x .PLANQ, a table made using the .PLANQ’s patented Rezign Veneer material. Derived from a blend of biobased fibres (flax, hemp and jute coffee bags) and textile waste in the form of used denim, army clothing and uniforms, the materials are shredded into small pieces before being carded into felt and transformed.
The finished product is a duo of tables encompassing a large centrepiece coffee table made from oak and oak veneer, and a smaller table available in colours ranging from Blue Denim, Army Green, Suits and Jute Coffeebags.
