UK, Europe & InternationalBelgian flooring manufacturer modulyss has introduced a new bespoke soft flooring service, offering architects and designers the opportunity to craft their own custom designs using cutting-edge Chromojet printing technology.
Available in 5m width broadloom carpet or seamless 50x50cm carpet tiles, the printed visuals can extend to fit to any space, from a company’s logo and subtly branded carpet patterns to showstopping entrance designs and spatial zoning.
modulyss aimed to build upon its existing flexibility and customisation with further demand for projects to stand out in a crowded market. “This custom design service aligns with an increasing market demand for more bespoke options in soft flooring, and our new service offers designers exciting new ways to cater to their clients’ needs,” comments Ruben De Reu, product director.
At the heart of this custom flooring service lies cutting-edge print tile technology – an advanced printing process that ensures the flawless mixing of visuals, so the tiles seamlessly align to achieve the appearance of a wall-to-wall carpet. For a cohesive look and feel in corporate spaces, modulyss can also manufacture custom carpet tiles in any brand colour palette or combination. All bespoke carpet tile creations are designed to blend with the existing range of modulyss products, providing complementary colours and textures readily available in the standard collections.
The design journey starts with the selection of a base tile that serve as canvas for the custom design. These base tiles include modulyss’ First Forward for a sleek level loop finish, Cambridge& for cut pile frisé, Prominent for cut pile saxony and Velvet& for a tip sheared texture. With guidance on colour selection and seamless integration, a digital preview is delivered in five working days.
This new service will be featured throughout Europe at various editions of ARCHITECT@WORK 2024. For each event modulyss has worked with local designers and artists on a series of unique stands that showcase the technology and design potential of the custom offering – teaming up with Oktra for London event on 20 and 21 March to create a unique flooring design inspired by the concept of discovery.
“The inspiration for this piece derives from the concept of ‘Discovery,’ the act or process of seeing, finding, or gaining knowledge of something previously unknown,” says Monica Waple, Oktra’s head of graphic design. “The design reflects a fluid and organic flow of ideas, creating a seamless and show-stopping spatial design experience.”
