Created by Norwegian design duo Skogstad & Wærnes, BUD aims to provide modern environments with a chair that stands out from the traditional: a fun and youthful piece offering intriguing concepts wherever – and however – people choose to meet.

Offering maximum flexibility and customisation, Fora Form’s latest collection comes with four different bases: BUD stack, a stackable four-legged model; BUD rotate, a four-legged variant with a swivel base for additional movement; BUD meet, a meeting chair with a four-star, static base (ideal for focused moments that require minimal noise from rolling wheels); and BUD unite, a meeting chair with a four-star base and wheels (the latter designed for dynamic, collaborative work environments where mobility and connection are key).

BUD has a noticeable presence as a single piece of furniture, but when placed around a table with multiple chairs, the back cushion helps to create more open, engaging office aesthetic. Practically, the lowered back with its curved, oval silhouette makes people more accessible to one other regardless of the setting, while the ergonomic design offers users excellent back support. The BUD collection can therefore serve multiple functions as a meeting, dining, or an informal companion.

“Minimalist yet comfortable, we wanted BUD to stand alone and also function in larger numbers without creating a wall of backrests,” explains designer Fredrik Wærnes. “BUD’s backrest allows you to move around in the chair and interact with others, while during focused work such as with a computer on the table, the armrests relieve the elbows.”

BUD is not only unconventional in its form, but is also designed with consideration for the future – namely, created with disassembly in mind. The chairs have no parts that cannot be recycled and therefore be disposed of 100%, offering an excellent example of the Fora ReForm initiative in action, informing even the product development phase. Available in both a structured powder coating and regular powder coating, BUD’s seat and back cushions can additionally be upholstered with a broad choice of different textiles.
