Amtico at 60: Celebrating over half a century of British flooring expertise
Starting its journey back in 1964 as the UK’s first manufacturer of LVT flooring, this year Amtico marks its 60th anniversary in operation.

Now employing over 575 skilled staff from across the UK and international offices in France, Germany, Dubai, Hong Kong and Australia, British flooring manufacturer Amtico has continued to make strides in terms of growth and product innovation since opening its doors in 1964. Making its debut with the Signature collection (which remains one of the brand’s most popular, enduring ranges to date), Amtico is the only UK brand that can proudly say it manufactures LVT from scratch, and has done so on the same Coventry site for the past 60 years.
60 years of Amtico
The company kicked off its 2024 celebrations with a simultaneous cake cutting across its four UK sites – Solihull, Pilot Park, London and the Coventry HQ – as well as its brand-new office and studio in Düsseldorf’s Media Harbour. These anniversary events recognised the hardworking staff members and creative campaigns behind Amtico’s largest strategies and products, such as its in-house design teams who travel the world for inspiration – venturing as far as Tokyo earlier this year to fuel their creative process.
Another cause for celebration were the advanced production methods Amtico has developed over its six decades in operation: subjecting each range to 57 product assurance tests before it leaves the factory, the commitment to excellence is evident in the brand’s extensive commercial warranties, for example Signature, which offers 20 years.

“Amtico really is about its people,” comments Holly Johnson, Marketing Director at Amtico. “We’re proud to have a number of people who have been recognised as long-service employees, and it’s great to be able to work on a product that people have so much passion for – from the people on the factory floor to the sales office.” One such employee is Maintenance Engineer David Quinn, who also celebrated his 47th anniversary this year as Amtico’s longest serving staff member.
Amtico additionally strives to be a pillar of the local community, fundraising or providing volunteers for over 10 local organisations in 2023 alone – including Heart of England Forest, Myton Hospice and the Make Good Grow foundation. To further support important causes, colleagues at Amtico voted for two non-profit organisations in 2024 as part of its Charity of the Year initiative. The company also intends to continue its partnership with Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital for a second consecutive year and introduced the Alzheimer’s Society to its fundraising efforts.

Looking to the future
In December 2022 the brand celebrated the launch of Amtico Bio, with 2023 acting as the collection’s first full year in circulation. Amtico Bio is a bio-attributed LVT, manufactured using PVC derived from renewable biomass-based feedstocks rather than fossil fuels. To provide traceability and credibility, the range is independently audited by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) scheme via Amtico’s ISCC Plus certification.
As the company continues to grow and evolve in today’s fast-paced industry, sustainability and conscious production is set to form a large part of Amtico’s future as a manufacturer. In 2023, the company published its Sustainability Report, which included its Responsible Foundations strategy and set goals for the years (and decades) ahead. As well as already decreasing its carbon emissions by 24% since 2022, this report also announced Amtico’s ambition to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2040.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating this significant milestone in our brand’s history,” concludes Amtico CEO Jonathan Duck. “We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our loyal customers, dedicated employees, and valued retailers who have been instrumental in our success over the years. Looking to the future, we remain committed to delivering high-quality, design-led flooring as we continue to be a trusted brand that our customers can rely on. Here’s to the next 60 years of success, design, innovation, and making a positive impact in the lives of our customers.”
