Helium balloons inspire the design of Lamorisse by Pedrali

The armchair collection – which now features Lamorisse Wood – offers pure relaxation in both in-and-outdoor spaces.

Pedrali - Lamorisse

Designed by CMP Design for Pedrali, Lamorisse is an armchair collection characterised by a contrast in shapes. The sober build of the supporting structure and large enveloping cushion serve as the base while the subtle addition of elastic belts lends comfort and strength.

Lamorisse Wood echoes the outline of the aluminium armchair first designed in 2022 but expands the choice available for specifiers. The introduction of the ash frame springs from the desire to offer the same level of comfort and to provide a complete collection of seats that can be used in free-flowing spaces that blend outside with the indoors.

CMP Design played with animated ideas in the initial sketching of Lamorisse: “In the same way a helium balloon is tied to a string, this chair has a soft, coloured, suspended inflated part – the seat – which is connected to a thin, string-like part – the supporting structure.” French director Albert Lamorisse, who created the short film ‘Le Ballon Rouge’ (or ‘The Red Balloon’), also inspired the making of the collection.

The powder-coated aluminium frame for the outdoor version is available in white, sand, orange, green or terracotta while Lamorisse Wood is available in bleached or walnut-stained ash wood, lacquered in black or another colour. Elements from both can easily be disassembled for recycling purposes or to replace components.
