Inspired by one of the footpaths through the rolling hills of the Peak District in Yorkshire, England, Monsal is a compact and size-adjustable bench seating range. Connect the benches end-to-end to create long runs of banquette or backless bench seating, reminiscent of the train carriages that once steamed along the railway, now the Monsal Trail footpath. With a range of design options available, this simple bench system can adapt to a range of interior purposes and styles. Plinth, leg and castor options diversify Monsals functionality, while custom sizing provides a sleek built-in aesthetic.
Quilted upholstery gives Monsal a tactile and luxurious aesthetic. Backrests and seats can be plain or quilted, adding depth whilst also enhancing comfort and providing a cosy seating experience. “We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to work on a project with such a personal story, the elements of nostalgia and inherent love for the Peak District have been a joy to convey through Monsal’s design,” says sixteen3’s design team.
